TIWaleagueIt’s getting down to the business end of the Hyundai A-League season with tonight’s trio of games crucial to the finals hopes of Western Sydney, Melbourne City, Perth Glory and Brisbane Roar; overall record: 28-3-18, +20.2 units

Game: Western Sydney Wanderers (4-9-6, 21 pts) v Sydney FC (14-5-0, 47 pts)
Where: ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park, NSW
When: Saturday, February 18, 7.50pm (AEDT)
Prices: Wanderers $3.60, Sydney $2.05, DRAW $3.45

Confirmed bet: Sydney FC WIN (one unit @ $2.05)

TIW says: A staggering 1134 days have passed since the Wanderers last managed to get the job done over their crosstown rivals, with Sydney winning six of the past Derby match-ups (to go with three draws). Tony Popovic and his players insist it’s not a curse, but the reality is they’re up against it again in the season’s final derby. League leaders Sydney FC are yet to lose after 19 rounds and their miserly defence is unlikely to leak goals to a middle-of-the-table side lacking thrust up front. The Wanderers delivered one of their strongest displays against the Sky Blues in January’s scoreless draw.

They’re in battle for the last spot in the finals but that cause wasn’t helped by last week’s 2-0 loss to the suddenly resurgent Central Coast Mariners. Key midfielder Brandon O’Neill is back from suspension for the Sky Blues but the Wanderers are without skipper Dimas Delgado, after he picked up an eighth yellow of the season last weekend. The Wanderers have scored just two goals in their past five against Sydney FC and with the Sky Blues having conceded just 9 in 19 this season, it is hard to see just how the Wanderers can turn around what has been a terrible run against their rivals.

Game: Perth Glory (7-6-6, 27 pts) v Brisbane Roar (7-8-4, 29 pts)
Where: NiB Stadium, Perth, WA
When: Saturday, February 18, 10pm (AEDT)
Prices: Perth $2.35, Brisbane $2.75, DRAW $3.75

Confirmed bet: +3.5/total (one unit @ $2.25)

TIW says: Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne City know three’s a crowd when there are only two top-four spots still up for grabs. While City battle Wellington in NZ, the Glory-Roar battle could help decide who misses out. Kenny Lowe’s fifth-placed outfit have scored eight goals in their past two outings while third-placed Brisbane were left ruing their inability to punish a depleted City in last week’s 2-2 draw. John Aloisi’s already-thin defensive stocks will be further strained with left-back Corey Brown (hamstring) to miss three weeks and fellow defender Daniel Bowles (knee) out for the season.

Veteran stopper Jade North returns from suspension while Glory counterpart Shane Lowry is back from injury. Perth have lost just one of their past eight and are on a three-match winning streak at home while the Roar are undefeated in their past six which includes multiple wins in the ACL. Outside of Sydney FC, Brisbane have the league’s best defence while the Glory possess one of the most lethal attacks (36 goals). Perth are undefeated in their past four at home to Brisbane with two wins and two draws but the key in this match-up is goals – there have been a total of 31 goals in the past eight meetings.
