TIWaleagueRound 15 of the A-League continues tonight after Adelaide kicked-off proceedings with a shock 2-1 win over Melbourne City last night. Tonight, it’s their crosstown rivals who’ll start hot favourites as the Victory host Brisbane Roar; overall record: 24-1-16, +16.7 units

Game: Melbourne Victory (9-2-2, 29 pts) v Brisbane Roar (5-6-3, 21 pts)
Where: AAMI Park, Melbourne, Vic
When: Friday, January 13, 7.50pm (AEDT)
Prices: Victory $1.66, Roar $5.00, DRAW $4.00

Confirmed bet: Victory -1hcp (two units @ $2.75)

TIW says: Anyone feel like betting against the Victory at the moment? They lined our pockets with last week’s three-unit special in Adelaide (as 2-0 winners) and they’ll start deep in the red against the Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park on what promises to be an unusually humid Melbourne night. The dark blue half of Melbourne are brimming with confidence – their team have kept clean sheets in each of their past three home games against Brisbane and they are undefeated in their past six games on home turf in the A-League, scoring 20 goals along the way. The Victory will be without a player due to suspension for the first time this season with Alan Baro sidelined so Nick Ansell will replace the Spaniard at centre-back. Victory are undefeated in eight matches overall having won their past five and will be keen to claim maximum points once again after a 1-1 draw between these two teams in the opening round.

Melbourne dominated the first half of that match at Suncorp Stadium then Mitch Austin struck with seven minutes remaining only for Luke DeVere to score deep into stoppage time for the 10-man hosts. Having lost their past two games and without a win in three, fourth-placed Brisbane head south to AAMI Park knowing another loss could leave them five points behind the top three in the Hyundai A-League. The Roar’s away form is alarming with only two wins in their past 12 road games (both against Central Coast). Brisbane have won only one of their past 12 games at AAMI Park (D4, L7) with their most recent success coming in January 2014. However, they are undefeated in their past four games against Melbourne Victory (W2, D2), including a 5-0 rout in March 2016. The Roar are still awaiting the return of Brett Holman (knee) but are otherwise at full strength. The Victory can’t keep winning but we’re going to ride this streak until it ends.
