17TIWEPLlogoSeven games pop up on the EPL schedule today with the clear highlight the battle of the surging Spurs and Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium; overall record: 27-2-22, +17.32 units

Game: Stoke City (7-6-8, 27 pts) v Manchester United (11-7-3, 40 pts)
Where: bet365 Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent
When: Sunday, January 22, 2am (AEDT)
Prices: Stoke $6.00, United $1.61, DRAW $4.00

Confirmed bet: Stoke City +1/hcp (one unit @ $2.30)

TIW says: Manchester United will aim to extend their unbeaten run to 17 games, but it’s four seasons since they last won in the league at Stoke.  United were left frustrated when the sides met earlier this season, when a rare mistake by David de Gea helped Joe Allen snatch a late equaliser. That point lifted Mark Hughes’s team off the bottom at the time, but they’ve improved considerably since, as have United, who haven’t lost in the league for three months. Stoke have gone four home league games without defeat, keeping three clean sheets, and have lost only one of their past eight at the bet365 Stadium (W4, D3). Manchester United are unbeaten in 16 matches in all competitions (W12, D4), with their last defeat coming on November 3 away to Fenerbahce in the Europa League. Jose Mourinho (pictured below) has lost two of his three Premier League visits to Stoke, his joint-highest loss percentage at any EPL venue.

Game: West Bromwich Albion (8-5-8, 29 pts) v Sunderland (4-3-14, 15 pts)
Where: The Hawthorns, West Bromwich
When: Sunday, January 22, 2am (AEDT)
Prices: WBA $1.66, Sunderland $6.00, DRAW $3.60

Confirmed bet: WBA -1/hcp (one unit @ $2.70)

TIW says: Last January, Sunderland effectively saved themselves in the transfer window. Under Sam Allardyce they invested in Lamine Kone, Jan Kirchhoff and Wahbi Khazri, who all played a significant part in the club’s escape. David Moyes could do just as well given the same opportunity to bolster his squad. But it seems that Sunderland are either unwilling, or unable, to support Moyes in the same way. The consequences are likely to be serious, particularly with three players on Africa Cup of Nations duty and a host of others injured. In contrast, West Brom’s new signing Jake Livermore trained with his new team-mates yesterday and could feature today. West Brom have lost just one of their past 14 league matches against Sunderland (D5, L8) although past four of the past five meetings have ended in a draw. The Baggies have won four of their past five league games at home, scoring at least three goals in each of those victories.

Game: Manchester City (13-3-5, 42 pts) v Tottenham Hotspur (13-6-2, 45 pts)
Where: Etihad Stadium, Manchester
When: Sunday, January 22, 4.30am (AEDT)
Prices: City $2.20, Spurs $3.60, DRAW $3.30

Confirmed bet: DRAW (one unit @ $3.30)

TIW says: Pep Guardiola seems more concerned with his forwards not converting chances than the sub-standard defending that has his side outside the top four. It’s not unreasonable to expect some improvement from Manchester City after last week’s stunning 4-0 loss against Everton but they are struggling defensively and this Spurs team will create myriad chances too. Tottenham have won the last three league meetings, most recently a 2-0 triumph at White Hart Lane that ended Pep Guardiola’s perfect League start. City have won five of the past six home league meetings, scoring 17 goals. City have lost four of their past eight league games but have only lost once at home this season (W6, D3). Tottenham have equalled their EPL record of six consecutive victories. They have not won seven league games in a row since May 1967. Spurs’ last 10 goals have been scored by either Harry Kane or Dele Alli. This should be a cracker!
